Successful Projects

With the continuing increase in power rates, MRE is always busy designing and installing residential solar PV systems. Since August of 2014, MRE has installed more than 2,500 residential systems or 25 megawatts of solar throughout Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) which equates to more than 80,000 solar panels installed in the Marianas. And though more than 90% of these solar installations are grid-tie systems, MRE is coupling Energy Storage System (ESS) in new installations.

MRE has partnered with very reputable ESS brands such as Generac, LG Chem and Tesla. MRE technicians have been certified to install these solutions; an accolade no other solar energy provider in Micronesia can claim.

Grid-tie solar energy systems coupled with battery storage will become the norm in the renewable energy industry within 3 to 5 years. MRE is the leader in the development and installation of grid-tie with battery storage systems in Guam and the CNMI with more than 150 systems installed to date. And though MRE offers three very reputable brands of energy storage solutions, they are designed to allow homeowners

Although not as rapid as the residential market commercial solar is also experiencing growth. MRE developed a commercial portfolio consisting of customers large and small. From a 25KW solar system at DGX Global warehouse to a 360KW system on the Dededo Mall.

With the price of electricity the largest contributor to going solar, the Investment Tax Credit and depreciation benefits made the investment very attractive. With the tax benefits factored in the payback period on a direct purchase was less than 4 years.

Those with no tax liability or no interest in ownership of a solar energy system took advantage of MRE’s Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) program. Although there’s no tax benefits, customers of a PPA benefitted by paying for clean, renewable energy at a lower rate than what it would pay for utility power.

MRE is proud to be the only local solar energy provider/contractor in the Marianas that can say it is typhoon proven. Although all solar providers on Guam survived Typhoon Dolphin AND in May 2015, it was in July of that same year that Super Typhoon Soudelor hit Saipan with sustained winds of 150mph with gusts to 180mph. At that time, MRE already had more than 25 solar energy systems installed in Saipan. MRE didn't lose a single panel as a result of the super typhoon.

In October 2018, CNMI was hit by yet another massive storm. Super Typhoon Yutu was the strongest storm to hit US soil since the 1930's. Parts of Saipan experienced sustained winds of more than 180mph with gusts in to the 200's. At this point, MRE has more than 400 solar energy systems installed. Only 20% of MRE systems sustained damage. Those systems were 100% repaired within one month.
